Pulmonary blastoma is a rare primary lung tumor consisting of a mixture of blastomatous and
immature-looking epithelial and mesenchymal components. The histogenesis is not clarified. This
disease is first described by Barnard in 1952 as “embryoma of lung” because of its resemblance to
fetal lungs. In 1961, Spencer reported three new cases and suggested the name ^pulmonary blastoma”
because of the resemblance to nephroblastoma... |

A case of hereditary spherocytosis in a 8 year old girl and her brief family history were
presented.
Diagnosis was based on spherocytes in peripheral blood smears, increased osmotic fragility,
hemolytic anemia and splenomegaly.
Marked clinical improvement was observed by splenectomy.
Review of literatures was also attempted brifly.
